AI PHOTOGRAPHY
AI photography is a young and incredibly powerful tool I absolutely love to communicate visions through. Also did you know saying “honey” in your candids is the best way to ensure your loveliest smile?
Note none of the images within are used for sale or monetary gain. These are solely for the purpose of communicating visions relevant to projects.
CASTING
I use AI photography to do the most human task of all: communicate my dreams for casting.
With AI’s help I’m able to describe my character, what they are wearing and the emotional space they are in as well as the physical. I can stipulate who’s shooting them, on what camera, with what lenses and the time of day. I can even outline the mood of the entire piece — and in doing so present the most unified vision I could ever hope to portray.
WARDROBE
Wardrobe is the extension of any character’s arch, from their inner selves to their outer journey
AI enables me to take the years of research garnered in building decks that plundered Pinterest, and build out visions of a character’s look and feel informed by my language of fashion. Here I can go far further at portraying what’s in my head than any moodboard.
FRAMING AND PREVIS
There’s now a way to communincate your instincts without having to resort solely on the work of others
One of the things that always rankled me was how much we rely soley on what others have made to communicate our own as-yet-unmade projects. This is where the advent of AI photography excels: taking what’s come before and helping us turn it into new things. From visualising frames and key story bearts, to VFX shots that have never before existed until now.
PRODUCTION DESIGN
Location is character, and sometimes that just doesn’t exist — yet
Being able to articulate the environment my characters inhabit, the look and feel, time of day, colour palettes, history, place in time. All these are possible when working with AI photography, enabling me to have very clear and concise conversations with my Art Department about the places we are going to build together.
